The first Jandek record I fell in love with was 's Telegraph Melts. With that album, I discovered the cliché that every album by this super-recluse songwriter sounds the same is a somewhat lazy assessment. The stereotype of Jandek’s unvarying style began with the albums on which he gained initial cult reverence, such as Ready For The House and Six And Six: musty, morose, and outright.

As for the most recent stuff, I haven't heard the latest non-spoken-word CD, but the one before it, I Threw You Away, is pretty wild, full of moaning and howling. I'd say it's worth getting. Oddly, I have yet to really be grabbed by Blue Corpse, which seems to be a favorite of many Jandek fans.

Jandek laughing over Houston! We’re back to tuning #1 too! 4 track CD. It’s pretty short (37 min) so that is always neat. Too Course sounds very close to I Threw You Away style in terms of the strumming arrangement, but this isn’t his Godin Multiac.

Jandek demonstrates the value of doing it and just putting it out there. This song comes from his 36th album, an album where he's playing bass and seems well past the point of leaning into being the oddball outsider musician. You find your audience, your muse, by doing the work of creation. I need to sit and write my stories/7/

Milk Milk Lemonade is my band’s fourth full-length album, and quite a strange one it is. It’s nearly thirty years old. I was reminded of it just yesterday by one of those Facebook “memories.

Oct 01,  · In his album-by-album review on Perfect Sound Forever, Aaron Goldberg theorized that Jandek was influenced by the punk aesthetic, noting the garish day-glo colors on the album cover and the DIY recording. The subject of the cover, an interior view with the shades drawn, is pure Jandek, establishing the what-I-do-is-secret philosophy that.
